If you are curious about us, and how we became Old School Farms then you hit the right button!
Old School Farms is owned and operated by Maclain and Hannah Dyer. Maclain and Hannah met when they both were attending Ohio State ATI located in Wooster, Ohio. They were strictly friends in college, however they both went their separate ways in life. Eventually they were brought back together after some mutual friends took Hannah to a house warming party Maclain was throwing.
It wasn’t long after dating that they moved into a rental house together located in Upper Sandusky, Ohio. On March 31st, 2016 Maclain popped the question every girl longs to hear sometime in her life.
“Will you marry me?”

Hannah obviously said ” Yes!”
They started planning their wedding right away for that August! This had some raised eyebrows as to why they were rushing the wedding. Hannah and Maclain didn’t want to postpone their wedding any longer than they had to. They were both very excited to start a life together, and didn’t see the point in waiting! They had roughly 5 months to plan and make their dream wedding become a reality. With the help of many family members and friends, they said “I Do,” and pulled off a fabulous wedding ceremony and reception on August 20th, 2016.

Flash back to the week of the wedding, days before we said “I Do.” That’s when they also signed for their 40 acre farm, and got the keys to their house! They started pulling up old carpet to reveal beautiful hardwood floors, moving furniture from an hour away, all while balancing the craziness that comes with last minute wedding planning. However, they managed to pull off moving into their new home, and having the wedding all in one week! Whew!

After the wedding, Maclain and Hannah would spend countless hours the next month cleaning up the farm yard. Cutting down trees, removing trash, and getting as much stuff done outside while they had nice weather. However, Hannah left at the end of September for horseshoeing school in Richmond, Kentucky. She would be there studying and learning a trade that she would immediately fall in love with! She spent the next 6 months there, only making trips home on weekends when funds allowed.
Since they purchased the farm, they have made huge changes, not only to the house and farm yard, but also to the old school house that came with the property. The schoolhouse sits about 10 yards off of their side road. For years it sat untouched, unseen from the road (even though it’s 10 yards from the road. You wouldn’t have notice it at all driving by).
A little information about our old school house.
Street School-Twp School #1, built by C. H. Poe & Co. in 1887
Located in Hardin County, Ohio. Roundhead Township.
This is one of the first school houses built under the free school law. The township was divided into 7 districts, and this school was built for Roundhead township district No.1. It was named after the the Streets family who lived near by. It is a one room school house with a natural stone foundation.

Hannah and Maclain plan on restoring the school house to its original form. They would love to be able to host family gatherings in it, as well as renting it out when not in use for Christmas time.
The property it sits on has been a constant chore as they have fought weeds and overgrown trees since they started to clear the land. In the summer of 2019, they fenced it in to allow their horse and two small donkeys to run on it, and keep the brush down. It not only worked wonders, but allowed them to have extra time to spend elsewhere working on the farm, instead of weed eating and brush hogging for hours at a time down there.
Maclain and Hannah have worked very hard to get Old School Farms to where it is today, and they hope to add a few business opportunities in 2019, one of which includes selling Christmas trees.
Not only were they excited to start their farms business in 2019, but they also welcomed a little addition to their family in May, 2019!
